Laura Bergus Joins Bradley & Guzzetta as Technology and Social Media Policy Consultant

Bradley & Guzzetta, LLC, is pleased to announce the newest member of our team, Laura Bergus.

Given the recent explosion in social media and Internet use for all forms of communication, cities are poised to dramatically improve the speed and effectiveness with which they reach residents and potential businesses. However, new media are generally subject to existing rules, such as records retention and public disclosure. Navigating these new waters can be confusing at best, and open up new liabilities at worst.

Laura will help our clients master the use of online media such as blogs, Facebook, and Twitter to responsibly and effectively communicate with their constituents.

Laura has over a decade of municipal communications experience, including public relations, website development, social media implementation, and PEG access management.

Prior to joining the firm, Laura created the online support community Social Media Best Practices for Law Schools. She also drafted and recommended policy for social media and multimedia technology use for the Montana Legal Services Association. She serves as the web designer and social media consultant to The University of Iowa College of Law, where she is also pursuing a law degree. Before attending law school, Laura worked for the City of North Liberty, Iowa, as telecommunications director.
